HAVANA -- Cardinal Bernard Law, archbishop of Boston, began a three-day
visit to Cuba Monday at the invitation of Cardinal Jaime Ortega, archbishop of
Havana, the Roman Catholic Church of Cuba announced.

Today, Law will say Mass at the Havana Cathedral and will visit the St. Charles &
St. Ambrose Seminary. On Wednesday, he will meet with the Standing Committee
of the Conference of Bishops and will deliver a lecture on The Church and
             Society.

Before leaving on Thursday, he is expected to meet with papal nuncio Beniamino
Stella and ``government authorities,'' the announcement said, without going into
             details.

Law has visited Cuba on several occasions, most recently in late January, when
Pope John Paul II toured the island.
