Florida's Puerto Rican population

According to a joint 2006 study by the University of Puerto Rico and Hunter College's Center for Puerto Rican Studies:

• In 1990, Florida surpassed New Jersey as the No. 2 mainland destination for Puerto Ricans, behind New York.

• In 1990, 2 percent of mainland Puerto Ricans lived in Florida. By 2000, it was 14 percent.

• During the 1990s, the number of Puerto Ricans in Orlando increased 142 percent.
