Desert death toll rises to 60

LUKE TURF

The bodies of two illegal immigrants found on the Tohono O'odham Nation near the village of Queenswell bring to 60 the number of deaths the Border Patrol has documented in its Tucson sector since Oct 1, the start of the federal fiscal year.
U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Charles Griffin said yesterday an immigrant came out of the desert and told a rancher two people traveling with him needed help. The rancher contacted the Border Patrol.

Griffin said two Mexican men in their 20s were found dead Friday evening.
