About 5 o’clock P.M. I received from Mr. John Thrasher a note stating that the Fiscal had just been to the Punta, and read to him his sentence, the same having been conformed to by Your Excellency, of eight years to Ceuta.  Mr. Thrasher requested to see me.  I called at the Prison immediately, when he suggested the propriety of my having an interview with Your Excellency relative to his condemnation, which I shall be glad to have at the earliest hour it shall be convenient to Your Excellency to receive my call for that purpose.
