Cuban leader's son visits Zayed University

                  Zayed University yesterday received a Cuban educational delegation
                  headed by the son of the Latin American country's leader, Fidel Castro.

                  Professor Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, of the Cuban Academy of
                  Sciences, was in Abu Dhabi on a tour of the capital's educational
                  institutions. "We were invited by the Higher Education authorities
                  in Abu Dhabi to visit its colleges and universities.

                  "We think Zayed University is very impressive in its organisation.
                  There is a vision for achieving excellence and providing
                   opportunities for knowledge. Colleges and universities here have an
                   advanced level of technology," he said.

                  Prof. Diaz-Balart added that the visit was a preliminary trip from which ideas could be
                  generated. The delegation later met Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher
                  Education and Scientific Research.

                  The Cuban representatives had travelled to the UAE to take part in the G77 Higher Level
                  Science and Technology meeting. Prof. Diaz-Balart also visited Abu Dhabi Men's College and Abu
                  Dhabi Women's College.
