Captives Safe, Rebels Say

HAVANA, June 30 (UPI)- A rebel broadcast today said the mining men seized at Moa Bay “certainly will not be harmed.”
“We believe the Yankees will be released soon,” the rebel announcer added. He made no mention of the servicemen kidnapped over the week-end or men seized today.
Cuban officials have ordered a halt in ground and air patrolling along a fifty-mile line passing though the eastern end of Oriente, apparently fearing that the hostages might be injured in patrol fighting.
“It is too bad these army officers were not concerned about killing so many Cuban farmers while shooting at our forces,” a rebel radio announcer said.
He added that the prisoners “probably” would be taken for a tour of rebel hideouts in the eastern mountains “to show what Cuban Army bombing has done to the area.”
