Cuba Continues Curbs

Batista’s Cabinet Extends Suspension of Rights

HAVANA, June 21 (AP) - President Fulgencio Batista’s Cabinet today approved action extending the suspension of constitutional guarantees another forty-five days in Cuba.

The Cabinet said the extension was necessary to “maintain order and peace, watch over the economy and maintain the social and political rights of the people against perturbing elements.”

Similar suspensions have been renewed regularly since the outbreak of the revolt led by Fidel Castro. Cuba has been relatively quiet in recent weeks.
