U.S. Wary On Arms

Cuba to Get No Deliveries Now, Washington Declares

Special to The New York Times

WASHINGTON, April 3—United States is not likely to resume shipment of arms to the Government of Cuba without public notice, officials indicated today.

They suggested that any other course could hardly be taken in view of the tension in Cuba and the world interest in the struggle between the forces of President Fulgencio Batista and the insurgents.

It was understood that as the delivery date of previously placed arms orders approached, each case would be considered separately. But no arms would be allowed to go under the conditions now prevailing in Cuba.

The State Department said that consultations were still proceeding with Cuban officials over the shipment of 1,950 Garland rifles suspended about two weeks ago. The arms had been ordered under the mutual security program.
