Castro's Crude

Economic sanctions aren't hurting Cuba's small oil industry, according to French actor Gerard Depardieu, who has been making a fortune off his oil wells in Cuba. "The claim that Cuba is not self-sufficient in oil is a fiction to hide that giant American companies are massively producing oil there through Canadian partnerships," Depardieu told Webster Hall curator Baird Jones. "My own company pumps 10,000 barrels of high grade oil a day from its Cuban wells." However, he added, "you get into trouble if you talk about it."
