HAVANA, Cuba (AP) -- Prince Albert of Monaco met Tuesday with President
Fidel Castro during a five-day visit to discuss sports and other programs
                  between the two small countries.

Vice President Jose Ramon Fernandez, president of Cuba's Olympics Committee,
greeted the crown prince of the tiny Mediterranean principality upon his arrival
Monday night. Albert is head of the Olympics committee in his country and is a
delegate to the International Olympics Committee.

On Tuesday morning, he traveled to Cuba's Council of State to meet with
                  Castro.

Invited to attend an international sports conference here, the prince also will
inaugurate Monaco's consulate during his stay to Havana.

Also on his trip, Albert was visiting Cuba's Center of Genetic Engineering and
Biotechnology as well as the Latin American School of Medicine, which provides
free medical training free to people from other developing nations. The prince
