Firm that ships goods to Cuba bombed again

The Hialeah branch office of Almacen El Espanol was firebombed early Tuesday morning. It was the second bombing incident in two days for the firm, which forwards packages and money to Cuba. 3

Hialeah fire fighters and police responded to a call at 7 E. 44th St. about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. They found two Molotov cocktails inside the business, according to a police spokesman. One went through the office's front window and burned the carpet, causing about $1,500 in damages, said Alamacen El Espanol manager Angel Morera. The second landed outside. No one was injured.

Monday morning, a Molotov cocktail was found in Almacen El Espanol's Little Havana office. There were no major damages to that building.

Morera said he believes the bombings are an outgrowth of a resolution passed by the City of Miami Commission on a first hearing in its March 18 meeting. The resolution would require firms that forward packages and money to Cuba to post a $500,000 bond.
